With the Puerto Rico Open one week away, few people know that this was the location of Fuzzy’s first professional win. The win took place in Puerto Rico in 1974 at Chi Chi Rodriguez’s tournament. The event benefitted underprivileged children on the island. Upon winning the tournament, Chi Chi presented Fuzzy with the winning check, Fuzzy handed it right back to Chi Chi and said give it to the kids. This small gesture from Fuzzy resulted in a great friendship that has lasted over forty years. Known as two of the biggest personalities the game of golf have every seen, Fuzzy and Chi Chi continue to support children’s causes.
